No matter what the reason, there's no changing the fact that that's just spam. It wasn't like a lot of different people asking about the steam release, it was a lot of different people copy/pasting the same two messages repeatedly. Also if you watched the event the whole chat had the same messages repeated over and over again. Doesn't make sense why they'd want to talk about PC. I assume the reason why was because it was an Xbox event. "Pick the right tool for the job", and each engine has its strengths and weaknesses. The number of times I've looked at a new subsystem and whispered, "oooh, that's so fuckin' smart," under my breath is far too many.Īnd despite that I still use Unity for different projects. UE4 is really a fantastic engine to work with, too. Their competition has benefited everyone who uses both engines and each one is suitable for different types of games. I'm glad to see UE4 has bit back a large market share from Unity. 5% gross royalty on PUBG, Daylight, Gears 4, Kingdom Hearts 3, Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, Rime, not to mention Fortnite's huge success recently or games like Rocket League, A Hat in Time which were made in UE3. Epic must be absolutely swimming in dough right now. On a side note: UE4 has gained massive grounds the past 3 years. I'd be surprised if a game made in UE4 somehow ran terribly on PC when it doesn't on console. It's Unreal Engine 4, so it's not exactly on the Devs to do too much of the work when it comes to porting and cross-platform optimizations.
